A Shot in the Dark is 3-Act farce that has been described by the New York Times as “a bubbling, saucy comedy.”
A good hearted and guileless chambermaid is hauled before a novice magistrate on a charge of murder. On the basis of the evidence, the magistrate is instructed to quickly deal with this “open and shut case.” But the young girl’s testimony is so honest and ingenious, the magistrate decides she could not possibly be guilty. What ensues is a quirky, twisty and amusing search for the truth, as the magistrate puts his career on the line in the name of justice.
Well-drawn characters and witty dialogue drive this script, making it a pleasant challenge to any actor’s comedic skills.
